The South Island Ronald McDonald House opened in March 2003 with 12 units. Stage 2 opened in October 2004 bringing the number of units to 17 (13 single bedroom apartments and 4 two bedroom apartments).
In December 2009 Stage 3 expansion started and an additional 9 rooms are being added to the House. This will bring the total of rooms to accommodate families to 26 and is on track to be finished by July!
